Catching Elephant is a theme by Andy Taylor
I am watching battle of the blades and I have to say; it’s compelling. The players who are learning to figure skate all show their vulnerable sides and seem very charismatic for it. It doesn’t hurt that there’s a lady hockey player there Her name is Tessa Bonhomme and she’s a hottie.
What is most compelling, however is the footage of Wade Belak. He seemed like a soft spoken, fun loving guy, a father and husband as well as an athlete.
His passing was too early
My wife left for Vancouver.
This trip was supposed to be fun but issues came up concerning our non-monogamous agreement and now there’s a dark cloud over it. Will we get together while she’s down there ? Will we be a couple again ? These separations happen every couple of years and we usually work things out but there’s always the though: what if…
I am sad, frustrated and may be mopey on here.
Forgive me.
I will get some exercise today and take care of the basics, putting one foot in front of the other like I know I can.
One day at a time
I remember scoffing at the concept I had read a while back that some people are into BDSM for therapeutic purposes.
Then I read The Ethical Slut where that subject was discussed a number of times. I became more open to the concept where I had thought that people who did that were irresponsible and not abiding by the concept of Safe, Sane, Consensual. How can you give consent if you are broken, after all ?
A few articles on Violet Blue’s awesome website and (**warning** this links to a story that might trigger some feelings if you are an abuse survivor) Bad Bad girl’s blog have caused me to think about it some more and the whole Daddy thing doesn’t squick me out as much as it used to.
I can see how reliving an experience as an adult, with better coping skills, and the option of calling red (or yellow) at any time would be cathartic and empowering.
Thoughts ?
There were only two tractor-trailers on the ferry last night, so we got loaded first and I got to go up to the deck about an hour earlier than I normally do.
I was up there having a rebellious glass of Scotch (10 year old Glenmorangie) and pondering my feelings. I was very excited to be on my way to be with my lovely wife and my pups but also sad to be leaving this beautiful place.
The more often I go there, the greater knowledge I have of the best spot to have coffee and shop for food but also the more pronounced my appreciation for the environment. The scenery never gets old, the birds are astounding and peace comes to me every time I am there.
My first impression when I originally went there was that everything was too slow, that island time was too casual. Some aspects of island life are still frustrating, but I’m thinking I might need to reevaluate some of my perceptions.
The northern lifestyle is growing on me.
The prudish army is hard at work trying to repress your right to view porn, have sexy fun and say naughty things on the internet.
In some countries, like Australia, it seems they are gaining ground, as I’ve pointed out in a post yesterday. Facebook has taken their “family oriented” agenda to the right of center and has repressed such innocuous groups as breast feeding information pages.
Where does the hysteria stop ?

Do it.
Do it NAAAOW !
The move isn’t happening today. I am beyond livid.
We were told yesterday morning to pack up the old place (we were originally living in unit #1 but had to partially move into #2 when it got water damaged and there were concerns of mould) and move everything into the unit we were currently living in (#2). We did so.
This morning, we were told to move everything into #1 because the dentist whose place we were taking over needed somewhere to move. I moved everything into #1 and had my vehicle loaded and ready to go by 1 pm. At about 3:30, we’re told the move won’t be happening after all, that the dentist was all settled in and feels it’s unreasonable for him to have to move.
Now we are back to living in a half finished unit that is likely mould contaminated and hasn’t been cleaned. All our shit has been hastily packed and there are totes and bags everywhere. By the time we’re moved, I’ll have handled everything 4 times.
We had been dealing with an admin assistant who had no clue about what was going on. (no offence to the admin assists who are reading this) Tomorrow, we are all meeting in the CEO’s office and I will expect a plan, in writing with clear dates and times and who is doing what.
The shit show ends tomorrow.
We’ve been living in Government housing while my wife works for the health unit. It’s free so it’s kinda hard to complain but the place we had been assigned originally was in a four-plex.
The four-plex was an issue for a number of reasons;
- We were always concerned about the noise from the dogs (Silas gets barky at night and there’s lots of wildlife to get him going)
- The internet was shared with all the units, bogging down an already slow system to the speed of cold molasses and forcing us to act as admins, since we used our router.
- There was a mini flood from the unit upstairs and we had to move amid concerns with mould.
We were thrilled when we found out yesterday that our request for a single unit had been accepted. We are moving into a mobile home over the next couple of days and are thrilled to bits about it.
I may be scarce over the next few days, depending on how quickly this goes.
Keep it naughty, tumblr
I’m sorry I’m not keeping up, sexy people of the interwebz, I am working my ass off and finding I have no energy for personal posts when I come home. So I heart fuck your pages instead and hope you don’t mind the lack of creativity.
It turns out that in a small branch, when someone quits, it means *lots* of extra business for the others.
Who’d a thunk it ?
1- In the past week, I have driven three different trucks from a new(ish) Kenworth to a decrepit, rattly, shaky Freightliner. I had fun in with all of them.
2- While I would enjoy driving anywhere, I prefer doing what I do up north. The scenery is jaw dropping even after doing the same run a dozen times.
3- Driving a 75 foot long vehicle on narrow, windy highways is exponentially tougher than a 50 foot one.
4- Backing a big ass truck onto ferries is becoming second nature.
5- After all this time on roads, my Jeep’s pull for the dirt is becoming stronger.
6- I have the hard top off my Jeep and only a bikini top keeping the weather out. Even though it gets pretty hardcore at 110 and it’s 9 C and drizzling, I love the open air feel, the smells, the better visibility.
7- Notice how even though I drive for a living, I still enjoy driving on my own time ? I think I may have found what I want to do when I grow up.
This father’s day weekend is bittersweet for me.
My dad died two years ago, almost to the day. We had been estranged for almost 20 years when I got word that his health was declining quickly. Our final visit was at the hospital and he was physically frail. He felt so small when I hugged him and I knew it was the last time I would see him alive.
Thankfully, he was all there mentally and this final visit brought us both peace. He passed a couple of weeks after, surrounded by family while I was at the airport waiting for a flight back to Montreal where he was.
Adding to the bittersweet, My wife and I are leaving Mission tomorrow to head back up north. We will leave our friend missiongirl behind and are sad about it. We will miss her sweet kisses, soft skin and the happy noises she makes when caressed just so.
